Self-learning webinar

Whether self-study via webinar is better or worse than classroom training can probably never be answered beyond doubt. Each person's personality is crucial here. And as we all know, our preferences are all too different.

Nevertheless, self-study offers some specific advantages over classroom training. Here are some of them:

1.   Repetition opportunities: Self-study allows learners to review learning material as needed. They can return to previously covered topics to deepen their understanding or reinforce specific concepts. This is especially useful when learning material is not immediately understood or to fill in gaps in knowledge or prepare for exams or certifications. A good example here is "Fundamentals of Statistical Process Control." The subject matter is difficult to understand, often the topic cannot be understood right away. Through the webinar, you can learn the content piece by piece.

2.   Flexibility: Self-study with webinar allows learners maximum flexibility in choosing their learning time and place. Learners can set their own pace and adapt learning to their individual needs and schedules. This is especially beneficial for individuals who have heavy work demands.

3.   Cost savings: Self-study with webinar can be cost-effective, as there are no travel and accommodation costs for classroom training. In addition, there are no potential costs for trainer fees or printed training materials. This is particularly advantageous when training a large number of people.

4.   Individual learning pace: With Webinar, learners can set their own learning pace. They can review difficult concepts repeatedly or skip certain sections if they are already understood. This allows for customization of the learning process and supports a deeper understanding of the learning material.

5.   Accessibility and availability: Webinar is typically available anywhere, anytime, as long as there is an internet connection. Learners can access the learning content from various devices, be it a computer, tablet or smartphone. This allows learners to go through the material as per their needs, irrespective of their location.

However, it is important to note that self-study via webinar can also present some challenges. Some learners may prefer the direct interaction with a trainer or the group dynamics of face-to-face training. In addition, self-study requires discipline and self-motivation, as there is no direct supervision or external control.

The choice between self-study with webinar and classroom training depends on various factors, such as individual learning preferences, learning objectives, the topic, and available resources. In some cases, a combination of both approaches, such as blended learning, may also be appropriate to take advantage of both methods.
