The Automotive Quality Core Tools are the building blocks of an effective quality management system. These include Advanced Product Quality Planning & Control Plan (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).

More than 30 years ago, AIAG worked with U.S. automakers to develop common quality methods and tools that became known as Quality Core Tools.
These tools have been so effective that other industries have adopted them. Aerospace, defense, medicine and pharmaceuticals are just a few examples.

Later, the VDA followed suit with its own (German) methods: The Maturity Level Method (RGA) of VDA Volume 5 (Test Process Suitability), VDA Volume 2/PPF and VDA Volume 4 with the chapter Economic Process Design and Process Safety (SPC) are now also among the Automotive Core Tools. In 2019, the first Core Tool, the FMEA Methodology, was harmonized between the AIAG (American Automobile Association) and the VDA (German Automobile Association).

Today, most automotive manufacturers and suppliers require the use of one or more of the Core Tools. Therefore, companies whose employees have mastered the Core Tool processes can assure their customers that they have the most qualified people in the industry working for them and that the requirements of IATF 16949 and the applicable quality manual are absolutely met.

Prerequisites for participation

Participants should have a basic knowledge of quality management and quality planning in the automotive industry.

Qualification Certificate

After passing the lean control, participants receive a qualification certificate.
